The KBS Damaged Cargo Release was developed as the result of a suggestion by a courier in Philadelphia, which was being accused of damaging cargo in transit even though the driver had noticed damage or faulty packaging at the pickup. The courier’s manifest was not designed to handle the legal formalities and signatures necessary to permit delivery without liability. Now each driver carries a pad of Release forms and turns in any used slips at the end of each day.
